Jason Horn
Jason Horn has been a commerce writer for The Spruce Eats since 2022, covering and testing pretty much anything and everything you can eat or drink, or use to make food and drinks.
Highlights:
- Jason has been writing about food and drinks for more than 15 years
- He holds a BA in English from Tulane University and an MS in journalism from Northwestern University
- He once convinced Matthew McConaughey that a hot dog is indeed a sandwich
Experience
Jason’s earliest memory is of being a toddler, crawling around on the kitchen floor eating popcorn after his great-grandma put too many kernels in the popper while she was babysitting. And food has been the most important thing in his life pretty much ever since. He’s been cooking since he was old enough to reach the stove and writing about food and drinks since he was old enough to get an assignment from Nation’s Restaurant News while in grad school. He lives in Los Angeles, where he’s taken up the winter sport of curling.
Education
Jason received a BA in English from Tulane University and an MS in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. He also completed all the coursework toward a culinary arts degree from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Ala., while working at Cooking Light.
