Jess is an Editor for The Spruce Eats, where she oversees a team of recipe developers and food writers in creating delicious recipes and helpful cooking guides. She's a seasoned content strategist with experience in social media management and branded content, and also hosts The Spruce Eats' weekly Instagram Live videos and "One Thing" video series.
She's also a contributing writer for The Spruce Eats, a role in which she spearheads the writing of articles on hundreds of staple ingredients from around the world, providing tips on how to cook with them at home.

Prior to joining The Spruce in 2019, Jess spent eight years as Senior Editor and Test Kitchen Director for Food Republic. She was also Social Media Director for Zester Daily, Community Editor for The Daily Meal, and Editorial Assistant at Saveur Magazine.
Education
Jess received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California, where she studied print and digital journalism at the Annenberg School for Journalism. She also studied French language, literature, and politics at the Université Paris-Sorbonne, and took culinary courses in her spare time.

Which food or drink are you?
A bowl of rice and dal with a huge dollop of whole milk yogurt, chopped cilantro, mango pickle, and squirt of lime juice, accompanied by a big glass of iced NYC tap water. I call it the "full reset."
Family fun facts
My mom is a blonde Jewish lady from Long Island who became a professional Indian chef. My dad is originally from Mumbai, is the world's greatest chai-wallah, and designs super-efficient energy systems for Amazon. My little brother is a cheese specialist who builds urban greenhouses in Chicago and harvests heirloom vegetables and barrel-farmed tilapia from his rooftop operation year-round.
Who eats what you cook?
My boyfriend semi-complains that I leave too much food in his fridge, which messes up his Blue Apron schedule.
What food trend would you like to forget?
Wasabi mashed potatoes.
What are you proud of?
I catered a fancy dinner for the designer who made Michelle Obama's ultra-glam India State Dinner dress.
