Colorful, oversized Stanley Tumblers—which quickly rose to viral status online in 2023—were one of last season’s most popular (and, apparently, hard-to-find) gifts. After the holiday rush, new, limited-edition tumblers have already taken Target stores by storm.
The Colorways and Size Options
On December 31 of last year, just in time for the next big holiday, Target was quick to introduce a new Stanley product: limited-edition Valentine’s Day cups sold in neon Cosmic Pink and Target Red colorways. Along with the classic 40-ounce tumblers Stanley is known for, the collection includes a pair of wine tumblers in the same colorway, along with stacking pints (16-ounce cups with no handle).
According to the Target listing, the products are designed to give as gifts, with a card label included and a tiny heart adorning the infamous Stanley logo. “With a pop of pink and the perfect shade of red, let's celebrate your gal pal by spreading the love,” reads the product description on the Target website.
You Might Have Some Competition
Like previous Stanley limited-edition drops, this one involved products literally flying off shelves—one TikTok depicts shoppers in El Paso, TX running toward the display and hints at fights taking place over the red and pink cups. (“Getting trampled for a Target Stanley Valentine’s cup,” reads the caption.)
Of course, some enthusiastic buyers rushed to buy the admittedly cute V-Day tumblers for themselves or as presents for loved ones. Others are being a bit more strategic, re-selling the tumblers on sites like Ebay, Amazon, and Poshmark for up to $150 a pop (that’s more than three times the in-store cost of $45 each).
They’re Sold Out…for Now?
To curb the competition, most stores implemented a two-product limit, but that didn’t necessarily help matters much. As you can imagine, both colors are currently out of stock online, and TikTokers are reporting local stores sold out within minutes, too: “I wanted a red one so bad, my target was sold out by 8:05,” wrote one disappointed shopper. Another TikToker shared that her Target in Goodyear, AZ, sold out in four minutes flat the day the products were released in stores. Sounds stressful!
It’s unclear whether Target will restock any of the special cups in stores or online ahead of Valentine’s Day, but if you’re looking for an alternative, Stanley also recently dropped a line of products only sold in Target Starbucks stores. Rumor has it, those Stanleys are pretty picked through, too. May the odds be ever in your favor this Valentine’s Day!
